After falling very ill with COVID-19 last year, Nidhi Rupa Joshi created an online chatshow called The Double Fifteen Minutes and works selflessly to bring issues to light and mobilize communities to work together and to be kinder to each other.
Nidhi has also recently published the first volume of a three-volume series of prose, poetry and musings to help people through their own personal al struggles and journeys.

Derek Drouillard is one of the thousands of business owners in Ontario who made the decision to permanently close his doors In July of this year. Merli's, an award-winning Coffeehouse and Eatery, welcomed artists, musicians, and community groups. It was a favourite spot for residents and visitors for 8 years. Derek took over the business a year and a half ago, when the original owner and friend, Frank Merlihan retired.

It has now been 108 days since non-essential businesses were ordered closed in March due to the COVID pandemic, for the safety of all. With all regions of Ontario now in phase two, Kingsville and Leamington have not yet been given the green light to move forward, yet the remainder of Essex County has. Despite the unique challenges in this area of Ontario, they share the struggles they and many other business owners currently face, some who are or will be, closing their doors permanently.
