PURPOSE OF THE SERIES
The Power of Thought children's book series gives parents, caregivers, and educators practical tools to help children navigate worry, manage everyday challenges, express themselves in healthy and positive ways, and build confidence. Through relatable stories and real-life situations, children are encouraged to understand their thoughts and feelings, develop coping and problem-solving skills, and discover that they have the power to influence how they respond to life's challenges.
The series is ideal for:
Parents and caregivers looking for a fun, engaging way to teach children practical coping, problem-solving, and self-awareness skills.
Educators seeking proactive strategies they can introduce early to help children develop confidence, empathy, and positive ways of responding to challenges.
Clinicians and other professionals supporting children who are experiencing emotional or mental health challenges and benefit from accessible, age-appropriate tools.
Many children and adolescents experience anxiety, worry, and other challenges as they grow. The Power of Thought series aims to equip children early with practical skills they can use to navigate these challenges before they become overwhelming, helping them develop greater confidence, resilience, self-awareness, and empathy.
As co-authors, we draw on our personal and professional experiences, along with insights from educators, clinicians, and parents, to create stories that encourage understanding, reflection, empathy, and practical “aha” moments for both children and the adults who support them.
SERIES DESCRIPTION
Set on the crystal-covered planet Tezra, the children of this magical world are like no others. Nyx, Carnuli, Epido, Lazu, and Zirco can take any form children imagine, hover instead of walk, and glow in the color of what they are feeling.
In each story, the characters encounter a relatable challenge that children may experience in everyday life—from navigating friendships and peer challenges to managing difficult thoughts and feelings. Children are guided through a step-by-step strategy that encourages them to pause, think through the situation, consider their choices, solve problems, and decide how they want to respond.
Grounded in practical, evidence-informed strategies, the stories turn important life skills into lessons children can understand and remember. The colourful characters and imaginative setting make the learning engaging, while the strategies give children concrete tools they can use beyond the story.
The series also provides opportunities for adults to model the strategies, talk through real-life situations, and reinforce learning with children. With downloadable educational resources available for parents and educators, each story can become a starting point for meaningful conversations and skill-building at home, in classrooms, and in other settings where children learn and grow.

“I Have Choices from the Power of Thought Children’s Book Series provides parents, teachers, child and youth workers and social workers with a visually pleasing story centered on emotional intelligence for the young people in their care.
This book is a thoughtful representation of children learning about and managing their emotions in a variety of typical daily interactions encountered by children. Particularly intriguing is the use of gender-neutral names and characters, who can be related to by any young reader. The creative integration of crystals and their application in daily life is gently introduced using variations of the crystal names in the gender-neutral naming of the characters.
As a social worker who has worked with grade school-aged children in a clinical school setting for many years, this resource would have been appreciated. I highly recommend the use of this story in a children’s therapeutic counselling setting.
