KAREN TOMPKINS | YOUR BRAIN HAS A MIND OF ITS OWN BUT YOU CAN OUTSMART IT!
When Karen's first child was born she stopped breathing. Three years later they learned her daughter was missing a part of her brain that controlled breathing.
It became Karen's mission to learn all things neuroscience. If we understand our brains, we can trick them into helping us live better. As President of the International Joubert Syndrome Foundation Karen has advocated for sufferers of brain-behaviour problems like her daughter. Advocacy—driven by compassion and science—is still a part of her work today.
