PURPOSE OF THE SERIES
The Power of Thought children’s book series gives parents and guardians the tools to teach children how to overcome worry and anxiety in a practical, enjoyable way. Children learn how to cope with life’s struggles, understand, manage and express their own emotions. It is also an excellent resource for educators to use in a proactive way when children are very young as well as clinicians who provide early intervention to children experiencing mental health challenges.
We are at the core of an anxiety epidemic with over 58 million children and adolescents dealing with an anxiety disorder globally. This number does not account for the growing number of not formally diagnosed children, nor reflect the impact on families.
As co-authors, we are driven by our own personal and professional experiences and the research, supported in the referenced Literature Review: The Impact of Emotional Intelligence on Childhood Anxiety.
Combining the knowledge and experience of practicing clinicians, educators, parents and guardians has brought insights and “aha” moments throughout this journey.
SERIES DESCRIPTION
When children learn to manage their emotions at a young age, they learn to problem-solve and find positive solutions to everyday situations. Teaching emotional literacy gives children the tools they need to build confidence in themselves, self-awareness, motivation, empathy, social and self-regulation skills.
Nyx, Carnuli, Epido, Lazu, and Zirco are all children who live on the planet Tezra, which is made of crystals. Their forms are quite different from humans and they can be anything children want them to be! The beings hover rather than walk and are also named after crystals, as each one is unique.
The children cannot hide their emotions because they haven’t learned to control them yet. They glow in the colour of how they are feeling. Each book in the series introduces a conflict that every child can relate to and teaches a different evidence-based strategy they can use, and adults can model.

Experts on Call Radio Show
The Power of Thought
Understanding our thoughts, and how we have control over them is at the root of how we change our behaviours. Amber Raymond shares a perfect example during our time with Kyle last weekend on Experts on Call with AM800 CKLW.
In this clip she is talking about feelings/emotions normalized in homes or classrooms. We hope this sparks your curiosity.
